So you were in a much-loved movie or TV show.
Years later, you find yourself on the international fan convention
circuit, signing autographs for people who probably know that
film or show better than you ever did. How do you cope? Ghostbusters
Ernie Hudson has rules that get him through ...
1. Embrace what got you there
"Ghostbusters is one of those funny things. There was
a time, about 10 to15 years afterwards, I really got tired
of it. But now I've really come to appreciate the fans who
are loyal to the film, who still show up in the Ghostbuster
outfits or who have made Ghostbuster cars. I've met a few
babies named 'Winston Zeddemore' because their parents went
on a date to Ghostbusters."
2. Behave like a politician
"You take the photos with the baby and you listen to
their stories and there is always a guy who wants to tell
you every frame of Ghostbusters ... and he tells it like you
have never heard it before. But you have to go 'it's okay,
it's his moment'."
.Be gracious to everyone
"You meet a lot of so-called stars. I've met people who
somehow connect with the fans and enjoy it. I've met people
who just hate it and don't want to be there and become a pain
to everybody. So I decided if you are going to do it, go to
have fun."
4. Make sure your big role wasn't a tough
guy
"Jim Brown the football player is a friend. He was in
a lot of very macho movies and wherever he went guys wanted
to challenge him to a fight. So my characters must be nice
guys. No one wants to challenge me to fight."
