Couple seeks
the paranormal - 20081102
Jean Harper
A Warsaw couple, Ken and Tanya Harrison have launched the
Northern Neck Paranormal Investigation Project (NNPIP). Using
modern electronic equipment they are researching unexplained
manifestations in local area houses.
They investigate houses suspected of being
haunted using audio and video recording equipment. They also
use other equipment to measure unexplained room temperatures,
as well as, electromagnetic fields and radiation levels.
Tanya said their services are confidential
and there is no charge to anyone for their investigation.
Mainly they hope to gather data for their project.
Following the Got Ghosts? seminar held at
the Callao Firehouse Oct. 18, two Warsaw clients of NNPIP
agreed to be interviewed about their experiences, but they
did not wish to release be identified nor reveal the exact
location of their houses for personal reasons.
Both houses are in Warsaw and neither could
be considered really old houses. One was circa the 1920's
and the other believed to have been built in the 1950's. The
1950's house seems to be haunted by a crying child when there
are no children nearby. There are also sounds of music when
no musical instrument or appliance is on. The owner of the
1950's ghost describes her ghost as an unpleasant haunting.
The owner of the 1920's house said she feels
her house has a good spirit. She has seen a man in the back
yard who just all of a sudden disappeared. She has also often
smelled cigar smoke when there was no one there smoking a
cigar. When NNPIP used their audio equipment to check the
house they asked if any spirits there smoked a cigar? Although
they didn't hear a reply then, after they played the audio
recorder back, they heard a reply admitting to smoking a cigar.
In giving several types of haunting information,
the Harrisons described Residual haunting as occurring with
the same events, in the same location, repeating over and
over, This could happen daily,or once a year, decade, or century,
they said.
A Spiritual Haunt, unlike a residual haunt,
is more like a living spirit, present and capable of interacting
or communicating with us, they said.
More well-known are Poltergeist, a spirit
who communicates through means of loud noises and movement
of objects, often thrown, broken, or hidden.
NNPIP does not perform exorcisms, seances,
or rituals. They said they also do not use Ouija boards or
participate in automatic writing.
Since they consider NNPIP a project not a
business, they do not charge for their services. They also
do not publish or release names, or specific addresses to
the public, concerning their cases without the person's permission
