Taunton For decades, residents in Greater Taunton have
heard tales of such paranormal activity everywhere from Bridgewater
to Freetown.
Now a group is going to study this paranormal
activity right here in the city.
The center, located at 20 Broadway, is the
first of its kind in the state to offer a wide variety of
classes and services for the paranormal enthusiast.
On Saturday, the downtown will welcome its
newest edition with the opening of the Bay State Paranormal
Center.
The center will offer classes, investigations,
workshops and equipment to support many of the paranormal
areas of study such as ghost investigations, cryptozoology,
spirit connection, mediumship, UFOlogy, and mythology.
The BSPC will also form its own paranormal
investigative team, the Bay State Paranormal Society.
The centers concept came to owner Elizabeth
Russell after she discovered that there werent any places
offering classes and workshops on paranormal topics.
The Taunton resident is a longtime paranormal
enthusiast, a hobby that began after several first hand unexplainable
incidents she claimed happened when Russell moved into a 130-year-old
Victorian house.
After several attempts to try to set up workshops
at other establishments, Russell said she decided to open
a center where patrons could take workshops and classes. The
center will also provide enthusiasts with a place to do esearch
and have access to resources to assist their investigations.
Besides being an advocate of Taunton businesses, Russell chose
the location in the city because it was centrally located
to the Bridgewater Triangle, which is comprised of towns in
Greater Taunton where UFO, Bigfoot and other paranormal sightings
have been reported.
The centers opening weekend features
several workshops and guest speakers, beginning with childrens
author Karen Chilton reading from her book, The Haunting
at Devils Den Road at 2 p.m.
Admission is free and patrons will receive
$2 off her book from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
An Evening of Ghost Stories with Mike
Markowicz follows from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Markowicz is an electronic voice phenomenon specialist and
is the host of East Bridgewaters Most Haunted
Cable Show.
Admission is $25 at the door and $10 for tickets
bought in advance.
